About:

a little bit of my story...trained as a graphic designer...always a bit of a rock bird....first job, the art department at rolling stone...next, a few fashion magazines: art director at mademoiselle & conde nast for a few years...cbgbs + mudd club every night (it was a blast) & slept under my desk at lunch...designed 12x12 album covers...art director at barneys new york & avedon studio...mtv in th...e 80's did my first super 8 rock video for the smiths "how soon is now"...directed many more rock videos...married a rocker...had a daughter, anna...directed tv commercials (a ton of fun and travel)...happy years in motherland...took a class in pottery with the goal of remaking everything in my kitchen...began making bottles for my friends at old field farm on the summer weekends...got a space in a group ceramics studio in red hook, brooklyn...constantly inspired by the work of 20th century studio potters: lucie rie, beatrice wood, the japanese artist rosanjin-kitaoji...mexican folk pottery...american stoneware bottles
...for the moment the hope is to keep making things i find useful and beautiful and send them out into the world...nothing makes me happier than saturday night at the studio listening to the trevor wilkins calypso radio show and trying new ideas...not much interested in production pottery...usually like a shape or an idea and make 10 or 12 of each...a few always fail to survive in one way or another...try see if anyone wants them...and they are off...

they are available at beautiful dreamers at in williamsburg, brooklyn

in the summer, i am potter-in-residence at old field farm,
cornwallville, new york.

please sign up for my email list file:///(http///paulagreifceramics.com/contact/contact.html) and i will send you the occasional update on new work, sales, shows and other ceramic festivities.
